The rock tool is designed to streamline the process of creating rocks for levels, eliminating the need to sculpt rocks in ZBrush and manually place them. Instead, the artist can select a blockout mesh within the level and generate a rock directly.
This tool is being developed to support the creation of Queens Vector, the solo dev game project I’m working on. It allows the artist to choose an input mesh from the world blockout, then select from a range of preset rock types, each with adjustable variables. For custom needs beyond the presets, a custom section provides full control over the rock's appearance.
Artists will have complete control over polycount and texture sizes, with the tool automatically generating collision geometry. Additionally, the tool can create a snow layer and facilitate vegetation placement on the rock.
Currently, I’m focusing on developing the various presets available in Unreal.
