Destiny Fan Art - Mars Station

This was a really fun project that i started on my lunch break. It all started with a piece of concept art that I found that never made it into Destiny. I was able to get this environment running in VR on a GTX 980 at 60fps.
Between the animated sign and the car material, it's hard to decide which was more fun to work on.

A base material using a texture to then generate mask data so that I can color the metal panels and the in-between areas, as well as add dirt and grime.

A really cool sign animation I made. I used a combination of cloud and ramp textures to create the flickering/discoloration effect.

This was a really fun material to make. It sampled the scene's wind direction and applied a sand mask. With this material, you can take the car from showroom quality to rust bucket.
